Andrew Vickers (aka Stoneface)

Sheffield-based sculptor Andrew Vickers carves beautiful works of art out of stone.

Using simple tools, he has produced carvings small and large which have been displayed not only around the city, but have been shipped world-wide as well. Though he has gained notoriety both locally and internationally through his one-of-a-kind pieces, Andrew is not in this for the recognition. His love of stone and extraordinary creative capacity fuels his work, and he is an inspiration to the city.

It was a real joy to interview him at his studio in Storrs Wood, where his workshop is based. Andrew opens up about his journey of going inward as a child, and then moving outward in his creative expression later on in life. He also talks about the vision behind opening up Storrs Wood to the public and the personal significance that holds for him.

Some of his nature-inspired works can be seen on his website: StonefaceCreative.com. And if you are local to the area, I would highly encourage you to pop by the next time they host an Open Day!
