Karen Sherwood

Karen is a one-of-a-kind woman who had a dream of owning an art gallery from the age of 15. She has just celebrated 30 years of running Cupola Gallery - one of the most respected contemporary galleries in the north of England for the sale and exhibition of fine art and fine craft.

Karen had a vision to establish a gallery in one of the more unlikely locations in the fifth largest city in the UK. Initially sandwiched between a betting club and a laundrette, this gallery has stood the test of time - now having exhibited over 10,000 artists. Karen herself is also an incredible artist in her own right, having just exhibited her moving solo show: “Of No Places in Particular”.

This interview took place in the upper hall of Cupola Gallery, and Karen shares with us the story behind it all. For more information about, please visit CupolaGallery.com and be sure to make a visit if you are in Sheffield!
